My name is Athea Bakken. I am a fashion designer and sewist drawn the emotional power of clothing. I see garments as more than something we wear; they are our protection, memory, culture, and identity.

My work lives in that intersection of nature and spectacle. With a background in fashion and textile designs and environmental studies, I’m deeply inspired by the Midwestern ecosystems, urban environments, pop culture, and the ways we use style as both escapism and self-definition.

Sustainability is not an afterthought in my practice; it’s a starting point. I’m intentional about sourcing, construction, and process. Whether I’m designing performance pieces, developing athletic-wear concepts, preforming simple alterations, or designing custom garments, I approach each project as a world-building experience.

I believe clothing should feel alive. It should move with you, empower you, and reflect something true.
